Local Community
BST is a two site school. The Junior School’s younger children, from Nursery to Year 3, are taught in our BST Shibuya site. The older Junior School (Year 4 to Year 6) and the Senior School Students (Year 7 to Year 11) are based on the Showa Women’s University Campus in Setagaya-ku.BST Shibuya
BST Shibuya is an inner city site set in the heart of trendy Harajuku, an area of boutiques, cafes and fashion. The School is surrounded by jewellery and fashion colleges, making the setting very popular with our parents once the children have been dropped off in the morning. The famous Omotosando shopping street is five minutes away.Conveniently close to BST Shibuya are municipal facilities such as a theatre, two community centres, a sports hall and small park. A fifteen minute walk, or quick bus ride, takes the children to the open spaces of Yoyogi Park; one of Tokyo’s larger green spaces.
Many educational activities benefit from the community around the School. Temple visits, trips to local shops and colleges and regular use of public amenities all enhance the curriculum.
Shibuya Station and the world famous Shibuya Crossing are a stone's throw away, and are experienced on a daily basis by many of our children, on their way to School.
BST Showa
BST Showa is in a unique setting, on the campus of the Showa Women’s University. The University provides private Japanese education from Nursery to post graduate level and is coeducational until Junior High School level.
Our School has been on the site since September 2006 and is developing strong links with the students of the Showa Elementary and High Schools. Throughout the school year we have exchanges and activities with our Showa colleagues that benefit students from both schools, by providing opportunities to practise language skills, and promote cultural exchange.
The Showa Campus is in Setagaya ku, approximately two kilometres from the BST Shibuya site and is well served by municipal buses and the Sangenjaya subway station (Den en Toshi Line).
Though the Campus is close to the busy Tamagawa Dori (N246), it is a peaceful and safe environment that provides an ideal setting in which our older students thrive.
