26 BST students sat the Key Stage 3 examinations during May 2008. 13 were girls and 13 boys.
Comparing BST results with UK National results (DfCSF First Statistical Release August 2008 including LEA and Independent schools) BST students performed well above the National averages.
Only 1 student failed to reach Level 5 in Maths and one in Science. All pupils achieved at least Level 5 in English.
81% of students in Mathematics achieved Level 7 or above. This is 50% above the UK National results.
62% of students in English and 77% of students in Science achieved Level 6 or above. This is around 30% above the UK National results in both subjects.
Residuals from MiDYIS Predictions
Comparing the results for individual students with predictions based on the MidYIS baseline test, we can reach the following conclusions:- Overall students achieved a level 0.4, 0.7 and 0.3 above the level predicted for them in English, Maths and Science respectively.
- In English and Science, students who have joined the school in more recent years performed slightly better. In Mathematics pupils who have been in the school for five years achieved a whole level better than their prediction on average.
- The difference between the performance of pupils with EAL and native English speakers was not significant. The predictions for EAL students were lower because of their performance levels in the baseline test, however, actual performance of EAL students was pleasing.
- Boys performed slightly less well than girls in English and Science but slightly better than girls in Mathematics.
