Routines & Expectations

A snack, packed lunch, hat and raincoat must be brought each day.

PE lessons are on Thursdays and Fridays. Outdoor lessons will be on Thursday and Gym on Friday, however, in the advent of adverse weather, alternative venues may be available. In light of this the pupils should have their full indoor/ outdoor PE kit available on both days.

Swimming lessons are on Tuesdays.  The children will need to bring their swimming kit, which includes swim suit, towel, goggles and a swimming hat.

Home learning is given out on Fridays.  It is always handed in the following Friday. Three homework tasks are set, each of 45 minutes duration. Children are then free to plan their own timetable in order to complete homework around weekend and evening commitments. With children in Upper Key Stage Two this added responsibility is regarded as an opportunity for the children to foster a good work ethic which they will carry into their secondary education.  In addition to the home learning tasks, children are expected to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each night, and to practice topic related spellings, which will be required on a casual basis as and when a new topic is introduced.

Reading diaries expect the children to both keep a record of all literature read and also give in depth analysis of one text which is marked in detail per fortnight. Children are expected to return their diary on a fortnightly basis and will record, in the front of their diary, each date by which it should be returned.
