Shimoda Trip


Students on this trip get to learn to surf, snorkel and scuba dive while also learning about the following classroom topics:

Year 8

·         The Black Ships and trade between Japan and the USA
·         Tides, off-shore drift and erosion
·         Land art and the use of scale when drawing scenery based art
 
Year 10

·         Acting as a translator from Japanese to English
·         The importance of location as part of a business start-up plan
·         How location impacts upon which businesses are short-term and long term successful in both the long and short-term
 

Sample Itinerary

Meet at Shibuya Train station

Leave for Shimoda by train

Arrive at guesthouse and eat packed lunch

Start Surf or Scuba Lessons

4pm

Back to guest house to unpack and settle in – fire drill, safety talk etc

6pm

Beach Activities

9.00pm

Start to get ready for bed

9.30pm

Bed time for Year 8 – Year 10’s to go to bed a little later
