Yuzawa
Year 7 and 11 Ski Trips to Yuzawa
During the trip students get a real chance to embrace the Japanese Alps and experience truly remarkable scenery and outstanding snow conditions.
Strong curriculum links with English and GCSE PE means that students get a very tangible grasp of areas of study that have been developed in classroom lessons. Students in English studied the following areas:
· Holiday brochure styled writing
· Post card writing
· Instruction manual writing
Year 7
Students spend 3 days learning to ski and snowboard with their friends in a supportive environment that is especially geared towards those who have never done it before. For those who are more able skiers they get a chance to spend time with the year 11 students and experience the GCSE skiing syllabus which is studied as part of GCSE PE at Key stage 4.
Year 11
Students spend 3 days skiing and being assessed against GCSE PE Skiing syllabus and criteria. Students performance is videoed and then analysed at the end of every day to help improve their performance and highlight the importance of good technique. Students also learn to be coaches and work with some of the year 7 students as ski mentors in the Year 7 advanced ski class.
