Support Offered
Support of the ‘whole’ child is essential to both student well being and academic progress. The pastoral support of students is offered firstly by form tutors, who are able to offer advice and direct students to seek further support if necessary. Where appropriate, guidance from specialist services in the wider community can support the student, family and school through challenges.
Academic support of students is given primarily by subject teachers and form tutors, whose close monitoring of student performance ensures that changes in performance is carefully monitored. Any changes in student performance are discussed by the form tutor and subject teacher, and where necessary the Head of Learning Support and parents of the student. A programme of support is then drawn up to meet the needs of the student in the most appropriate way.
