Leadership Team

David Williams - Head of School

David was born in Swansea and is a graduate of Nottingham University. His first teaching post was in Newark. He became Head of Biology, then Head of Science before moving into Senior Management.  In 1989 he gained his first headship in Wiltshire.  He was chair of the local headteachers’ group, an Ofsted Inspector and in 2003 he became an Executive Head Teacher of two schools in Swindon.  David then moved to Dubai to run the Wellington School for up to 2000 children aged from 3 to 19 years and in 2007 he was appointed as Principal at the Rego International School in Tianjin, China.  David is passionate about effective learning in schools.  He also loves rugby and, in fact, most sports, music and travel, although with his wife Trysh, three grown up children and a new grandson, family life is also a major part of David’s life.

 

Sue Aspinall – Head of Junior School

Sue is a graduate of Leeds University and holds a MBA in International Educational Leadership. She has taught classes throughout the Primary age range in schools both in the UK and overseas. She first came to Asia in 1995 as Head of Primary at the Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She then returned to London to join the Leadership team of a very successful Primary school in South Kensington, London. Sue joined BST in April 2006 and has led the Junior department through its recent expansion and development, including the relocation of the Upper Junior classes to the Showa site. She is passionate about  providing the best learning opportunities for young children. She enjoys running and travelling independently to remote parts of the world. 

Simon Lloyd – Business Director and Bursar

Simon is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate of Cambridge University, where he read Classics. He worked for many years as a partner in the firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers (previously Coopers & Lybrand), during which time his clients included many of the world’s leading multinationals. He has worked mainly in London and Tokyo, but also ran the firm’s audit practice for three years in Bangkok and a year in Prague. He first came to Tokyo for four years in the 1980s, returned for five years in the 1990s, and has been based here for a third time since 2001. He resigned from PwC in 2004 and joined the school in September 2008. His interests are all sports (he is a qualified FA football coach and referee), wine, dogs, nature and education.
