The British School in Tokyo is honoured to have been named Company of the Year at the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan’s (BCCJ) prestigious British Business Awards. This recognition marks an extraordinary milestone in our 35th anniversary year and reflects the strength, character, and ambition of our entire community.

BST Principal delivering the winning speech at BCCJ British Business Award

Over three and a half decades, BST has grown from a small school with a bold vision into one of Japan’s leading international educators. Today, we are proud to serve more than 1,400 students, supported by 270 dedicated staff across two exceptional campuses. Our journey has always been shaped by a commitment to inclusive, holistic education - ensuring every young person who joins BST is supported to find their purpose, pursue excellence, and thrive.

This award also acknowledges BST’s evolution into an IB World School, the outstanding achievements of our students in public examinations, and their progression to many of the world’s top universities. Just as importantly, it recognises the spirit of partnership and global citizenship that defines our school. Our links with organisations across Japan and around the world enrich learning, expand opportunity, and deepen our contribution to society.

As we celebrate this achievement, we remain deeply grateful for our thriving international alumni network, our parents, and the many partners who walk alongside us. Whether through cultural exchange, community engagement, or the employment opportunities we create, BST continues to play an active role in strengthening connections between Japan and the global community.

Receiving the Company of the Year award is both an honour and a motivation. It reaffirms our mission, celebrates our history, and inspires us to continue building a school where every student can grow with confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of self.

Thank you to the BCCJ and to everyone who has shaped our story. The best chapters are still ahead.
