PTA Term 3 Fundraiser for ’Save the Children’ - A Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

As the daily news reminds us, there are so many who are less fortunate than we are, who face terrible hardship every day from conflict and war, natural and climate disasters, and poverty.  At times, it can be challenging to figure out what we can or should do to help, and how. But in the end, what matters is that we engage, that we come together and help wherever we can, however we can, with kindness and generosity.

Principal Paul Tough has written in his weekly addresses about the strong tradition of altruism that is such a defining characteristic of the BST community. As an example, our Mums and Dads group on Facebook is bustling with calls for support for causes as diverse as providing relief to refugees, raising LGBTQ+ awareness, and setting up a sanctuary for animals. And our students are constantly showing such ingenuity and initiative in support of those in need: our Head of Primary, Eleanor Loran, has summed up just some of them here

As your PTA, we, too, have been inspired to follow your lead and take meaningful action. Our mission has always been to help children — our children, of course, as well as those in need. We already have a tradition to raise funds to support the local Seykoro orphanage every Christmas. And this term, with your help, we are proud to launch a new tradition in support of children all over the world, with Save the Children.

Save the Children works with dedication and compassion to protect children so they not only survive but thrive. Over the course of this term, you will see donation boxes set up on both Shibuya and Showa campuses that we have decorated these with our children.

These next weeks, we are also organising a series of events for all of us to engage, educate and empower each other in support of this cause.

This is a cause very dear to us. If you'd like to know more about Save the Children, please see their website here

We know we can rely on you to help us help, and are grateful for your donations and time.
