Safeguarding
At BST, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students. All adults in the school have a responsibility for the safeguarding of students.
We provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating environment that promotes all students' welfare and well-being.
What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding is the action taken to promote children's welfare and protect them from harm.
Safeguarding means:
- protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
- preventing harm to children’s health or development
- ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.
Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.
BST’s Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) team is specifically trained to manage safeguarding situations and coordinate information gathering and responses. They act as a source of support, advice and expertise to staff on matters of safety and safeguarding and have knowledge of the local Safeguarding and Child Protection laws and regulations. DSLs and the wider staff receive regular training, accessing best practices internationally.
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy informs Trustees, BST staff, students & their families and all external providers & volunteers about the school’s responsibilities for safeguarding children.
If you have any safeguarding concerns, please contact the relevant DSL directly:
