This Week
We hope you all had a restful break! The children had lots to share with their classes about their holidays and were excited to be back with their friends. They also enjoyed our assembly as we were introduced to BST’s new Principal, Mr Clayton.
English - We looked at a range of different acrostic poems before writing one with a partner. We were then creative dolphins and made our own acrostic poems about a word of our choice.
Maths - We explore unit fractions and non-unit fractions, looking carefully at the numerator or a fraction to see which it is. Unit fractions always have 1 as the numerator and non-unit fractions never have 1 as the numerator.
Science - We designed waterproof houses for The Three Ninja Pigs to live in, using our knowledge of the properties of different materials. We then tested whether these houses were actually waterproof.
Next Week
English - We will begin exploring our new story, looking for clues in the story to find out what is happening.
Maths - We will look at tenths and equivalent fractions.
Geography - We will create our own maps of different countries, using symbols to show human and physical features.
Class Choices
This term we will have a series of planned transitional events as we start to consider the class groupings for next year. Over the coming weeks, we will be asking the students who they enjoy learning with (learning partners) so that we can start to consider the class configurations for the next academic year. Please follow up with your child on who they feel brings out the best in them and helps them learn well. We will make every effort to ensure each child is placed with one of their choices. If you have any information pertinent to your child's next class, please let the class teacher know as soon as possible.
