This Week
A huge congratulations to Elsa and Viktor for winning bronze and silver respetively in the International Primary Maths challenge! We had such a wonderful first week back celebrating Viking Day on Thursday with a teacher performance of Beowulf. The children then researched and performed Norse sagas and impressed us so much with their creativity and confidence. In maths, the children have been reviewing key fluency skills they have been learning in Year 5 as well as reviewing their knowledge of shape. In English, the children have been using their inference skills to deduce more information on the raid of Lindisfarne in 793.
Next Week
In English, the children will be exploring figurative language and kennings in order to plan and write a narrative of Viking raids In maths, the children will be exploring area and perimeter. We will be visiting the Camii mosque and celebrating Earth Day next week as well.
Next Year's Class Choices
This term we will have a series of planned transitional events as we start to consider the class groupings for next year. Over the coming weeks, we will be asking the students who they enjoy learning with (learning partners) so that we can start to consider the class configurations for the next academic year. Please follow up with your child on who they feel brings out the best in them and helps them learn well. We will make every effort to ensure each child is placed with one of their choices. If you have any information pertinent to your child's next class, please let the class teacher know as soon as possible.
